Have you been dreaming of designing your own shawl, but don't know how to get started?

This class will teach you basic shawl layouts. You will learn how different shapes are being constructed: Circular and semi-circular shawls, triangular shawls, symmetrical and asymmetrical shawls and others, and we'll cover basic operations like gauge and size calculations.

You'll learn special cast-on techniques and Melanie will walk you through the single steps that lead to bringing your shawl ideas to life.

Instructor: Melanie Berg of Marilynd

Melanie describes herself as and "a former IT-specialist, mother of three and a semi-successful housewife. In my secret second life I design knitwear." 

Melanie combines texture and color into wearable modern designs that are both playful and beautiful. She designs to surprise — from matching cheeky stripes with elegant lace, to choosing unexpected color combinations. Melanie loves to collaborate with other creative types around the world, and her patterns have been published by yarn companies and knitting magazines large and small.

She lives with her husband and three children in Bonn, Germany, where she finds inspiration in the landscape, history, and culture.

Materials: Materials are not included in the price of this class. You'll want to bring your favorite yarn, needles to match and a notebook. Cost of materials will vary depending on the yarn you choose. Students will receive a 10% discount on materials bought for this class from the shop.

Cancellation Policy: In the event of a cancellation refunds will be provided if another student is available to take your place. We run a waiting list system for these eventualities but please be aware that any cancellation made close to the date of the course is less likely to be refundable.

In the unusual event that the class or course is cancelled by us a full refund will of course be processed.
