Learn to Knit Socks

During this workshop you will knit your own little mini sock using top-down construction on DPNs. You will learn how to:

● Best cast ons for socks and how to join
● Twisted rib cuff
● Avoiding ladders
● Slipped stitch heel flap
● Turning the heel
● Picking up around the heel flap without holes
● Gusset decreases
● Toe decreases
● Grafting the toe neatly

To complete this workshop you should be able to cast on, knit, purl and cast off. You should also be familiar with knitting in the round already.

Note:  If you already use Magic Loop technique on long circular needles you can use this technique instead throughout the workshop and bring circular needles instead (at least 80cm long).

Instructor: Rosee Woodland

Rosee is a writer, knitwear designer and technical editor, who loves sharing her skills with fellow knitters. She previous edited The Knitter and Knit Today magazines and taught at The Makery and now works independently from her home in Bristol.

Rosee says: “I’ve been obsessed with clothes since I was a child, spending my teenage years poring through textile history books and turning charity shop finds into dodgy emo-style outfits with my mum’s old sewing machine.Thankfully I grew out of that phase! I designed my first sweater when I’d only been knitting a couple of years and get a real kick out of showing people how straightforward it can be."
