Learn to Knit Socks: Top Down
This class teaches how to knit a sock from the cuff down to the toe. During this workshop you will knit your own little mini sock using top-down construction on DPNs. You will learn how to:
● Best cast ons for socks and how to join
● Avoiding ladders
● Slipped stitch heel flap
● Turning the heel
● Picking up around the heel flap without holes
● Gusset decreases
● Toe decreases
● Grafting the toe neatly
To complete this workshop you should be able to cast on, knit, purl and cast off. You should also be familiar with knitting in the round already.
Note: If you already use Magic Loop technique on long circular needles you can use this technique instead throughout the workshop and bring circular needles instead (at least 80cm long).
Skill Level: intermediate; students must be able to comfortably knit in the round

Kate Atherely is knitwear designer, author, and technical editor extraordinaire. She teaches extensively in Toronto, Canada and throughout North America as well as having a catalog of online classes with Interweave and Craftsy.
Length: 3 hrs
Materials: Students should bring 20-50g or worsted or aran weight yarn and needles to match.
Cancellation Policy: In the event of a cancellation refunds will be provided if another student is available to take your place. We run a waiting list system for these eventualities but please be aware that any cancellation made close to the date of the course is less likely to be refundable.
