One of the best parts of being a yarn shop is teaching people how to knit. That wonderful magic of showing someone how the simple act of making a loop with some string on a couple of sticks starts to make a fabric is empowering. It’s one of the things we really miss being able to do in this pandemic. So my iKnit7 yarn shop friends and I teamed up with Carol Feller to develop an online course for brand new to knitting or very rusty haven’t-knit-in-years knitters.
We know that many have been seeking new at-home hobbies over the past few months and well we think knitting is a fabulous choice for so many reasons. This Zero to Knit kit provides you with absolutely everything you need to become a knitter and complete your first two projects!
First off you get a power-packed online workshop with designer/teacher extraordinaire Carol Feller. The series takes you by the hand from utter knitting novice right the way through to completing your first (mini) cardigan. Over 35 videos you will learn to make a pouch, a Baby hat and a Baby cardigan. You will then have the skills to scale things up and make something for yourself!
You’ll conquer knitting basics as you learn the lingo and technical know-how of everything from wool to the anatomy of a stitch. Develop your unique eye and keen set of skills that will leave you with all the skills you need to tackle your next knitting adventure. Time isn't a factor as we developed this course to be consumed in whatever stolen moments you can find. You can also re watch the videos as many times as you like so no pressure to get it right the first time!
What’s in the Kit?
- set of 5mm 80cm wooden circular knitting needles
- 8 bulb stitch markers
- 1 tapestry needle
- 2 skeins of yarn
- Code for the online class
About the Yarn
We have carefully selected three of our favourite brands for you to choose from. Each one is machine washable and 100% Merino wool. Big Merino Hug from Rosy Green Yarns is an organic GOTS certified yarn that is beautifully smooth and soft. Rios is from South American brand Malabrigo and is hand dyed for some beautiful color shifts in each skein. Luxurious Merino Aran from Parisien handdyer la Bien Aimée is plump, bouncy and seriously squishy.
Then what are you waiting for because Zero to Knit has everything you need to start making unique handknits that you can’t find in high street shops.
