Unravel 2020 Recap
After a fun few days at Unravel in Farnham last weekend, we’re now back in the shop and ready to sell even more yarn!
As ever, it was excellent to catch up with friends – both customers and vendors. Plus, Anna, Aleks and I also always enjoy a good road-trip. Folk we want to mention include our pals at Triskelion, Pink Hazel, Textile Garden, The Wool Kitchen and Mahlique Wire, who all shared the Barley Room with us. Pink Hazel mentioned that she may be bringing her bags into the shop again, so watch this space! And also, I love that she’s totally making a Plum sweater in Opus too after trying on mine…
This year’s festival was buzzing as usual, and there were many things we saw and loved, including Rauwerk and their naturally dyed yarn. Aleks picked up some Merino Sport from them to design with and we’re all dying over the color combo she chose. Meanwhile, after seeing a customer wearing Elena by Junko Okamoto, Anna has pushed the design to the top of her queue buying some Number 2 and Pentland by Garthenor to get it started. Also, I picked up a kit from The Knitting Shed to make a Christmas present for my friend’s daughter (yes, I’m getting started early…).
We enjoyed hanging out with Max and Vincent, talking design, yarn and favorite TV shows. We made sure they didn’t spill any spoilers of Schitt’s Creek as it’s airing in Canada already… Other things we loved included Dusty Dimples’ gorgeous new stand, all the intense colors at Countess Ablaze and The Yarn Badger self-striping sock yarn was pretty amazeballs too.
But, the best part is always seeing your knitwear and catching up with customers we don’t get to see very often. Especially when they bring us cake – thank you to Sue, Becca and Rose for the goodies!
