The Fibre Co.

Every luxurious skein created by The Fibre Co. has a story woven into it. Influenced by the great landscapes and natural colour palettes found across the globe, in 2003 company founder Daphne Marinopoulos was inspired to create her own yarn after struggling to find what she wanted in the shops.

Daphne’s hands-on approach is evident in the company’s yarn. With a background and family history in textiles, she bought a small mill in Maine and began to produce and hand-dye her own yarns. She then used the knowledge gained to travel to Peru and train others dyers in her own techniques. Eventually, the brand made the move to the UK and is now based in the Lake District, where it continues to work with many producers and artisans to create yarns that inspire, using natural fibres including alpaca and camel, as well as plants. The Fibre Co. is always conscious of the impact of manufacturing from producer to mill to warehouse and everything in between.

A Yarn Story is currently the largest UK stockist of The Fibre Co.
