As beautiful for knitting and crochet as it is for weaving, Habu Textiles has built a reputation worldwide for producing unique artisanal yarn with myriad creative possibilities.
Habu was founded in 1999 as a weaving studio by Japanese-born Takako Ueki, who moved to the US when she was 16 years old. After two years in her studio, Takako started selling her own yarns, which she created using natural materials, some of which were rare or difficult to find.
Today Habu continues to offer a diverse range of materials in its yarns including paper and stainless steel to more traditional silk, merino, cotton and bamboo. The yarns, each and every one unique, vary greatly in texture and are ideal for garments and accessories, as well as creative arts projects.
