Malabrigo yarns are known for their unique beauty, with each skein created with carefully considered dye lots that bring fascinating nuance to every twist.
The Uruguayan yarn company started off in 2005 with two brothers-in-law dyeing yarn in a small kitchen. Today, their much larger premises in Montevideo produces 18 varieties of yarn in more than 300 colours! The business also has its own mill, as well as a talented team of employees and a strong focus on the environment, using plenty of solar energy, minimal water and as few chemicals as possible.
Malabrigo are very mindful of the wellbeing of the sheep used for their yarn, this includes their very own flock of Merino and Corriedale sheep, who live on a ranch near Malabrigo HQ. All the company’s wool comes from Uruguay, while the alpaca is sourced in Peru and the silk from Italy.
