Something a bit different this October

I've been listening to the A Playful Day podcast for a while now and it is one of my favorites. And while I started listening to it because it was a knitting, what I have enjoyed almost more than the knitting chat is Kate's fantastic storytelling ability. No matter what her topic of choice is in a given episode, she is always telling a good story. And her tag line of being a podcast "for the practically minded" is something I also appreciate.

I had the chance to chat with Kate a few weeks ago and while we were discussing a myriad of ideas, I kept coming back to the topic of blogging because an episode of her podcast from back in May had stuck in my head and is a topic I wanted to explore more. The episode is "Tag! You're it! featuring Kat Molesworth" and in it they explore blogging as a creative endeavour in and of itself. I like the idea of this and it's something I've been thinking about on and off since. That's why I invited Kate to come give a workshop on Creative Blogging here in the shop.

The workshop is geared towards small business owners and bloggers and will have a very practical approach. During the workshop we will cover:

  • Finding your voice online
  • Branding vs story telling
  • How to create an engaged community
  • A look at social media platforms: Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter (and others if people wish)
  • Newsletters for business
  • Blogging and working with bloggers
  • Collaborating and developing a support network
  • Measuring impact
  • Maintaining balance and focus

We'll work through some examples as well as get some good tips and tricks for fitting this into our busy lives. I'm really excited to have Kate and her practical and creative ways join us in the shop.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday 13 October 2015 from 5:30 - 7:30pm with a half hour Q&A at the end. Tickets are £25 and can be purchased here. If you want to learn a bit more about Kate check out her website. Hope you can join us for this unique event!
