Yarn Explosion

Sometimes everything collides all at once. This has been a rather busy week in the shop as lots and lots of new yarn has arrived. It isn't usually planned that everything arrives all at once but sometimes it just happens and this week has been a true yarn explosion.

Monday saw the arrival of a replenishment of Hedgehog Fibres yarns. There are 25 shades of the Sock in stock and on the shelves currently including the beautiful new shades Salty Tales, Construct, Fool's Gold, Zephyr and Bramble. I have really taken to Salty Tales, it's a stunning grey with beautiful pops of color. The Merino DK version is particularly nice and I may have squirreled one away for personal use. I can't tell you how excited I get to put these yarns on the shelves, I take great pleasure in deciding which shades will sit together on a shelf. I know that may sound a bit crazy but I love it!

Monday also saw the arrival the Spring/Summer issue of Amirisu as well as two beautiful new samples for the shop. The first is Nova by Shibui Knits in the brand new Rain. The second, which I promptly borrowed from the shop, is Tamdou by Melanie Berg in The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering. I'm working on Melanie's other pattern from this collection, Ingwer, and I can't tell you how much I love this yarn. I'll have more on each of these knits a bit later, so I'll just leave you with a couple of quick snaps for now.

Knit group on Tuesday morning swooned over the new arrivals and we had a great time picking out color combos and looking at the stunning designs in Amirisu. We were all quite taken with the Botan shawl by Helen Stewart and someone may have gone home with Hedgehog Fibres Sock in Graphite and Typewriter to make this.

Wednesday SweetGeorgia Yarns and Shibui Knits arrived. The SweetGeorgia box was filled with glorious new colors of Tough Love Sock, CashSilk Lace, Superwash DK as well as some new Party of Five sets including the new Graphite set. The greys in this pack are a perfect gradient, I am once again in awe of Felicia's dyeing ability. I am also quite keen on the array of greens and teals that arrived, they feel so fresh and Springy.

The long awaited Shibui Knits box was full of goodies for the Mix Party we are having in London today. Some of our favorite Silk Cloud colors are now back in stock as well as some new shades of Maai. The Maai/Silk Cloud combo has been a favorite in the shop lately and there are now more color options to choose from.

Needless to say it's been a week full of unboxing, shelf stacking, photographing, uploading and organising and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love filling the shelves with new colors and new bits of inspiration. I find inspiration and joy in every skein of yarn that comes into the shop and I'm happy I can share that with all of you.

Until next time, Happy Making!
