This hat was born out of a recent trip to the Victoria & Albert Museum. After wandering aimlessly for a while, I found myself in the midst of the metalwork exhibit. The walls of the gallery were covered with wrought iron screens and panels, one of which inspired the colourwork design on this simple hat.

Worked from the bottom up, in a variety of gauges, this hat is a great first colourwork project. The colourwork pattern uses two colours at a time, but is repeated so you can use up odds and ends of yarn. If you need a closer fitting beanie style hat, work two repeats of the colourwork, or add a fourth repeat for a super slouchy hat.

Pattern includes both charted and written instructions, and a table to determine finished size based on gauge.
