This Privacy Policy is provided by A Yarn Story Limited (referred to as “we”, “us” or “our” in this Privacy Policy. The term 'you' or ‘your’  refers to the user or viewer of our website). We are the data controller of any personal data we collect about you in the UK, and we are responsible for the A Yarn Story Website (www.ayarnstory.co.uk) and any orders placed by customers on the Website, at an event or in our Bath based, A Yarn Story store.

When you place an order on the website, you are contracting with A Yarn Story Ltd.

Here at A Yarn Story, we respect your rights to privacy and we’re committed to protecting your personal information. It is our policy to give you a private web browsing experience. For this reason, we do not require that you register and give us your name and email address unless an order is placed.

Your data - what do we collect?

 The information collected by us will generally include your name, address, telephone number,  email address and payment information. This is collected when you visit our website, use services offered on our website or engage with us either by email, web form, telephone or via any social media instant messaging feature.

Information with regards to bespoke orders that may contain contact details, subscriptions to our mailing list and requests for receipts via email will also be collected.

We also collect personal data through a third party, when you place an online order via our ecommerce store, and provide payment via payment gateways such as Shopify Inc. and Paypal.

How do we use this data?

We may use your information to provide goods and services that you have requested, and to communicate with you about those goods and services; to operate our site; to comply with applicable law; and as otherwise permitted by applicable law.

A Yarn Story Ltd. may also contact you about your order details, or to provide customer service, even if you have opted-out of, or declined to consent to receiving promotional emails. We may also contact you if we consider that revisions to this Privacy Policy are sufficiently important and require you to be notified of said change. 

How do we share said data?

When you request goods and services from us, you are consenting to the disclosure of your personal information to our partners, who may provide such goods and services under contract and guarantee to our satisfaction that they have sufficiently robust processes in place to ensure the security of your personal information, whilst it is in their care.

This includes Shopify Inc. and Paypal, both of which are  GDPR compliant. These institutions that we have partnered with to jointly offer our product and services may only use your information to aid payment to A Yarn Story Ltd. unless you have given consent for other uses.

Shopify Inc.

Our online store is hosted via Shopify Inc. They provide us with an online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services via the internet. Your personal information is collated and stored through Shopify’s databases and the general Shopify application. Shopify Inc. store your information on a secure server and they have taken the appropriate measures to safeguard all personal data. Paypal

We occasionally use paypal as a payment gateway. Paypal have appropriate technical measures in place to protect against unauthorised or unlawful use of your personal information, as well as the accidental loss, destruction, or damage of your information while under their control. However, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to Paypal and you do so at your own risk.

How long do we keep your data and where do we keep it?

We will hold your information on our system only for as long as is necessary,  such as fulfilling a request for goods and services. After that your information will be securely deleted.

The information you present to us will only ever be used for the purpose for which it is provided, unless you are informed otherwise at the time of giving said information.

Under certain circumstances we may occasionally be required by law, court order, or governmental authority to disclose certain types of personal information and we reserve the right to comply with any such legally binding request.
